- Summary: A well preserved fossil Cornularia quadrisulcata which is approximately 425 million years old.
- Description: A Silurian Cornularia quadrisulcata measuring (62mm x 41mm x 12mm). The specimen is well preserved and dark grey in colour, it has a pale brown micrite cement on the surface. The specimen also has a cast within the matrix (134mm x 100mm x 36mm), which is fracture and has been repaired with pale brown resin, separate from the main fossil. Within the matrix there are brachiopod casts. The specimen displays well defined ribs. On the matrix the number 1 has been written on in black ink. This indicates that this specimen was collected from Steven Birchs locality 1 (GR SO 9370 9220) Much Wenlock Limestone Formation, Nodular Member. This specimen was collected from the Wrens Nest, Dudley, West Midlands. CB
